Much of our business involves helping customers outside the United States export their cargo in our shipping containers to their home in the Caribbean Islands or other locations. These valued customers can purchase a “Shipper-Owned Container” from KB Container Storage and load it with their cargo for export to their home island. Once the container arrives by ship, the cargo can be unloaded, and then used as a storage container on the customer’s property. This is essentially the definition of a “Shipper-Owner Container.” The customer buys one or more of our containers and maintains ownership, verses utilizing a Shipping Line’s Container (“Carrier-Owned Container”) on a temporary basis and having to return it once their cargo is discharged. When buying a “Shipper-Owner Container,” the customer can also avoid demurrage (storage) and detention fees commonly associated with “Carrier-Owned Containers.”

KB Container will provide the necessary export documentation to our customer and the Shipping Line.  This documentation will include the Marine Survey Report, the Container Commercial Invoice, and the Container Release. We are familiar with most of the Shipping Lines and have numerous personal contacts. These personal relationships help expedite the entire process. Therefore, feel free to lean on us for advice and direction in these matters.

We are also capable of assisting our customers with container modifications and cargo loading for export. Over the years, we have built office containers, livestock containers, and specialized storage containers. We will also consider partnering with you if you have an overseas or domestic container modification project. If necessary, we will fly to your location to participate in planning discussions. Further, we are known for developing brokerage networks in the Caribbean and enjoy working closely with our Island partners.
